Our fall weather is here! Itís sunny, yet a bit chilly, and the leaves are turning. Pretty, indeed, on this Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Bellingham, WA.
Bellingham, with a population of 80,000, is a friendly community with many educational opportunities. Our Western Washington University touts 14,833 students who can choose from over 160 academic programs. Fairly unique to WWU is the opportunity students have to explore their educational options before declaring a major. They are able to supplement the choice they make with a minor in a secondary area of interest. Adjacent to campus are 6 miles of forested trails. It is only a 15 minute walk to downtown Bellingham.
Bellingham also houses Whatcom Community College, founded in 1967, with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students and Bellingham Technical College with its variety of educational classes and career-training choices. High school students benefit from BTCís "Running Start," a statewide program that allows qualified high school juniors and seniors to attend college classes tuition free while completing high school.
Students and residents of Bellingham have a variety of choices for entertainment and outdoor activities. It is only 60 miles to Vancouver, B.C., 90 miles from Seattle and 50 miles to ski at Mt. Baker.
